Re: Gripe Water
I tried it because my friend used it and swore by it. But, Katie is apparently allergic to it and screamed like crazy for about an hour straight. Like I said, my friend swears by it.

Re: Gripe Water
where can I get it? DS has a lot of gas and I can't stand to see him in pain anymore. Do you think I should call the Ped before using it to make sure its ok?

Re: Gripe Water
This probably wont help but my friend bought it at an irish market near her house in Floral Park. You can also order it online.

Re: Gripe Water
I used it and it worked like a charm for Christopher for a few weeks and then stopped working....which is a pattern for him. You can buy it an an all natural vitamin store.
Where do you live? The store by me sells it

Re: Gripe Water
I had 2 different ones. The one I got at the Chinese Grocery was very thick and I really think it hurt her belly. It said that it is supposed to "warm" the belly. The one at BRU, by Little Tummies worked well for us.

Re: Gripe Water
jess, we haven't tried gripe water but use mylicon or the little tummies drops - we found giving them before she eats is working best for us right now.....have you tried that?
(I have seen the gripe water too though in bru!)

Re: Gripe Water
we tried the gripe water on Nikolas when his colick really started getting bad around 3-4 wks old.. we got it at BRU, the Little Tummies brand -
I honestly don't know if it helped or not - I think all it did was help him pass more gas, but it didn't really help him with the true colic, i.e., when those 'witching hour' crying fits would hit.. We switched bottles around the same time we tried the gripe water so I happen to think the bottles helped more than the gripe water .. (since his gas is a lot better and we haven't gone back to the gripe water since that time)
I know that Christopher's problem is with gassiness, so the gripe water might help that .. I would check w/your pediatrician first though - some do not recommend gripe water (mine had no problem with us trying it, we would put it into his bottles)

Re: Gripe Water
Some peds won't recommend it b/c it's not FDA approved. I have no idea why it's not. It's pretty much sugar water from what I have heard...maybe more? I don't know. I was also told a bit of chamomile tea brings up gas. However DH's cousins (who live in Ireland) all swear by it. I think you could get in Kathleen's of Donegal in RVC (call first), that's the only irish shop I know on LI. I know a few places in the Bronx that sell it in Woodlawn. Also maybe in some irish delis in Queens around Woodside?

Re: Gripe Water
I don't know if I should try it or not. The gas hasn't been that bad but I'd hate to see him with any gas at all.
