Our dog has had some bad experiences with groomers. We have tried a number of them before my dad recommended this place. A little background, the last place we brought Oreo to, he would not want to go in and actually have to be dragged or carried. When we got him back he would cling to our necks and could not wait to get out of there. When he would get home he would act very clingy, needy, and almost like he thought he did something wrong (you know that guilty look a dog will give). After his last grooming I refused to bring him back to that place. So my dad told me about Towne Line Vet Group in Hauppauge. The vet had treated my family's late dog Bailey for cancer. I looked at the web site and was very impressed and thought it was worth a shot. When I called to make his appointment, the receptionist took the time to address all of my concerns. I told her about Oreo's previous experiences and his reactions afterward. She made note of it and told me if we think of any other concerns, to let them know. I was able to get an appointment within 24 hours. The vet also checked Oreo out (no extra charge) to make sure there wasn't any skin conditions, etc. They told us that if Oreo needed a break from grooming due to anxiety, etc they would give him a break whenever he needed. He wound up doing fine and not having any anxiety at all. Plus when my husband brought him this morning, he and Oreo BOTH got a tour of the facility, which DH said he could tell made Oreo happier (to see DH go through with him). On top of that Oreo got play time while he waited for DH to be done with work. Instead of clinging to DH's neck to get out of there, Oreo was actually looking for his playmates and actually had to be coaxed to LEAVE!!! He was one happy pup...which makes me one happy furmomma! DH sent me pics from his cell phone and this is by far the best he's ever looked (will post pics later).
