growth spurt, due to teething or something else
so for about 6 weeks, KJ has been sleeping thru the night (7:30-6am)
He usually has 6 bottles per day (7-8oz each)
The past 3-4 days, he has woken up at 11pm and 4am and when I feed him, he sucks down the whole bottle (that would bring him up to 8 bottles a day )
I see he is getting 2 more teeth on the bottom and I almost think he is drinking those extra bottles just to soothe his gums
I do not want to give him a paci as he has not used one yet
would you continue to feed him this much - maybe I can cut down the ounces in each bottle or just offer him 3-4 oz in the middle of the night
any other suggestions?
TIA

Re: growth spurt, due to teething or something else
My Dr never cared how many ounces they were getting. One of the mistakes I was making was saying they had 7 oz, but there is always 1 oz left in the bottle you know..I would have K feed him a bigger bottle around 3-4 and then again right before bed. Also try some tylenol before bed and see if he wakes. I think teething definitely causes night waking

well K was saying (she gave him 4 bottkes yesterday instead of the normal 3) that she was going to give him LESS in each bottle (6 instead of 8oz) but I can give him a bigger bottle before bed
Last night, I gave him 8oz and he was STILL crying for more so I gave him 4 more he sucked it dry
eta- KJ's bottles are BONE dry when he is done with them, there is never even 1/2 oz left

Re: growth spurt, due to teething or something else
I think we are raising the same child (mine is minus the teeth, though )
I noticed the other day that he seems to be going through a growth spurt - He's hungrier than he should be, even with all of the solids he's been getting. The other night, he took an 8 oz botle at 7, another one at 11, and then another at around 4. That's 24 ounces in less than 12 hours!
My doc always tells me "If he's hungry, feed him!" - I'm thinking I'll be feeding James around the clock soon enough.
