Grr- why cant people keep their comments to themselves?

Im getting so much lip because DS sleeps w/ us in bed, and its making me so mad...

I mean as much as I would love for him to stay in his crib- I LOVE co-sleeping and truely dont think there is anything wrong with it (esp. since he does start off in his crib- leaving me and DH "alone" timeChat Icon )

WHen everyone has their remarks- I feel like I have no comeback- other than "I never met a kid who still co-slept while in college- so it cant be that bad" while I wanna say- "Shut the frig up I like it this way...."

I mean when someone says "Oh he sleeps in your bed? thats bad, he's gonna be 7, and still need his mommy" I feel like saying- and what the hell is wrong with that?

Ahhhh- Vent over!

People are RUDE!!!!

I love co-sleeping now and if he's still sleeping in your bed at 7 at least you know where he is and that he's safe.

Don't let people bother you...like you, I love co-sleeping.

Re: Grr- why cant people keep their comments to themselves?

I'm sorry. I think people get crap from their families no matter what, unfortunately. I'm getting crap right now, because he still has the binky. We finally broke the habit during the day and he was just using it for nap and sleep time and then during the holidays he regressed and started using it during the day again. My Nana was like "I thought you were done with that thing." and made me feel like a failure. It's ridiculous. You've gotta do what makes your kid happy.

If it makes you feel any better- my ped says I dont have to take it away until he is 3Chat Icon While I think that is a little extreme- he says some kids have that need to s uck.. .if you take away the pacifier they'll just move onto hands and fingers and that is far worse!

I'm with you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I love sleeping with jordana. We don't do it every night, but when we do its so sweet.

I was at the Whitney Museum today with Jordana in the Bjorn, and one woman walks up to me and says "forcing her already" Chat Icon

Honestly, the only reason I'm even attempting it is because our ped recommended getting rid of it by 18 months. We cut a hole in one, which worked like a charm and he didn't ask for it until he went to bed. About a week later, he started cutting a tooth and would angrily throw the one with the hole in his floor and start sobbing. We finally gave in and gave him a fresh one. Now I'm leery about taking it away again. I honestly don't care if he has it for a while. I agree that hands and fingers are worse...can't take those away in the future Chat Icon

You know what, I TRY to do this (sometimes its not easy), just ignore people and dont let it get to you. We all need to do what we feel is right for our children. Chat Icon

Marissa- Who gives a rats a$$ what people say....

Julia is the queen of co-sleeping! She has been sleeping with us since she was born--lol

I had to hear it all from friends and family, all the "oh my God she's still in your bed" to "that's not right, she will be in your bed forever"

I just say, she's my daughter and not yours so you don't have to worry about it! If she wants to sleep with me till she's 10 so be it!

Just learn to ignore!Chat Icon Chat Icon

I do ignore it- and when it boils down- I dont care who thinks what-

I just wish I had something good to say in return instead of just sitting there looking like a fool...

What cracks me up the most-

MOST of these remarks come from NON parents....

I just wanna laugh and say- When YOU have a child- then YOU can place judgement....

I for one- through all of my "plans" on parenting out the window after actually becoming a parent!

I always tell them, just wait..you will see!!Chat Icon My parenting plans went out the window too!

I understand what you mean about the comback comments....I sometimes dont know what to say too...but I also feel there is no harm in telling someone, to mind there own business!!

I think everyone's idea of what their parenting would be like goes completely out the window when they have children. Nothing humbled me more than attempting all of the "right" ways to do things and have to readjust my plans.

Our kids still crawl into our bed at night on occasion. I remember snuggling in bed with my parents. My mother would always say that we gave her a backache when we crawled into their bed. My father would hold us too tight in his sleep when we did it. Finally it became so uncomfortable that we went back into our own beds. It wasn't until I was older & overheard my mom giving advice to a mom about how my father would hold us too tightly on purpose to make us go back in our rooms that I clued in.Chat Icon

It's not forever. When it gets to the point when they are older & you're waking up with feet in your face, you'll handle it. For now enjoy it and ignore them.

next time an idot says something you don't like say if I wanted your advice I would ask for it. I am better at saying something always to strangers and friends but not my IL's.

Re: Grr- why cant people keep their comments to themselves?

Sometimes I feel the same way, I'd like to have the perfect answer at certain comments from nosy people. Mi sister coslept with my nephew until he was 2 years old and all of them were so happy about that. I don't undertand why people need to judge others and make those comments Chat Icon

I know! My cousin who is 24 was over this weekend. She was afraid to hold Sydney but after I left told my mom that if she had one day with Sydney, she would have her trained not to throw things!

everyone always has something to say.... believe it or not i am against co sleeping for me and my family but people have comments for me like oh that's so cruel and they're just babies! so i guess they have something to say about EVERYTHING! anyway, i would just do what's right for you and your family and tell everyone to mind their own business!!!
