Guitarist Andy Taylor Quits Duran Duran
LONDON (Oct. 26) - Guitarist Andy Taylor has left Duran Duran , the veteran pop group said on Thursday.
According to a statement on the band's Web site, Taylor quit the group last weekend, though the remaining four members -- Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and John and Roger Taylor -- intend to carry on recording and performing as Duran Duran .
"As of last weekend we have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy," said the statement.
"We have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together."
Fronted by Le Bon, Duran Duran was one of the biggest acts of the 1980s, before reforming five years ago.
"Although obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about the next chapter of the Duran Duran story and look forward to seeing you all soon," the statement added.
The band is scheduled to give a concert in Chicago in the United States later on Thursday.

As a former Duranie, I am not shocked. He, and the others have split ways more than once. The band has not been cohesive since they recorded the song from "A View to a Kill. " back in the late 80s Not every band was meant to stand the test of time. The only ones that can still get away with it are The Stones and Aerosmith. Even THEY are pushing it. Don't get me wrong. Duran Duran was a huge part of my teen years and I still admittedly have my scrapbook as well as my 12 inch imported singles from Europe (though soon to go on E-bay I suppose). I did see them when they got back together with the original 5 members but it was not the same.

I am a huge fan & wasn't suprised either. Just saddened. They seemed so happy to be back together. I'm glad I got to see them as many times as I did when they were back together.
I'm going to see them next Friday & it won't be the same.

Simon Le Bon was my first crush. I LOVE Duran Duran...but they are great as a unit...I never liked when they started replacing people.
Never liked Power Station....
