Guys, I need some advice

I was in the job seach mode for about a year. Then my boss decided to resign which made my work life a helluva lot better. So, for 2007 I decided to stick where I am and really focus on TTC. I have been there over a year (I would get 12 weeks FMLA) and I am thinking I may be able to do PT there. Now, I get an email this morning for an interview for a company 10 min from my house. Looks like a great job. I responded yes to the interview, bc you never know...but I am feeling so guilty...who knows, it may turn out to be nothing but I don't know...I mean, lets say I do get it, won't I have to take off a lot etc to go to the RE? Re: Guys, I need some advice

There is a lot of time invested in visiting an RE. On the plus side, most have early hours to accommodate working women. I would go to the interview just to see what it's all about and you can decide after if you want to switch jobs.
Good luck.

Re: Guys, I need some advice

from a male POV, i was in the same boat last month - i wanted to switch jobs.

Over the holidays, I thought alot about the implications of leaving and the various consequences.

Near the end of the year, I was put on a great project that I love, so that was one factor.

The other factor was Boosh's RE appts. I try to make as many of them as I can. My job has been very flexible with me because I have been there for 3 years. Yes, RE's have early morning appts for working people, but they are very popular and sometimes we have to take the afternoon slots. On those occasions, I am allowed to work from home in the morning, and check in when we get home.

Starting someplace new, I'm not sure they offer the same felxibility to someone who just started. You have to earn flexibility.

I'd definitely see what the new job is about and what it requires, but bear in mind the tremendous time commitment an RE demands

Yeah, totally true. I spoke to my DH and we agreed that I could go check it out but if I was offered the job we would have to talk about it. Who knows...

Re: Guys, I need some advice

I am in the same boat you are. My job is okay, sometimes a little boring but super flexible. I have a job interview next week for an amazing opportunity (at least it seems like it on paper) I am very torn about what to do. The only reason I would not take the new job is b/c of TTC. At the same time I'm not sure if I want to take on a new job while also juggling RE appointments.

Good luck on the interview and keep us posted!

Jen...go on the interview...you have nothing to lose. If you get the job....take it. If you are happy with your work life, it will be 1 less stress you have to deal with when going to the RE. 99% of my appointments for monitoring were at 7:00 am and I was at work on time. There was the rare occassion that I had an afternoon appointment, but being that the RE and my job were only about 10 minutes from each other...I would take a late lunch, go to the RE and go back to work. Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
