Gwen stefani..
is starting to get to me. I LOVE HER to death, but what is with these new songs all sounding like they are geared towards high school kids? Her last 3 songs all sounded like a Jr high/High school type of song.
Then on the 4th of July , I saw my 8 yr old niece screaming when the song Hollaback girl came on " Its My $hit, It's my $hit", and arguing it was OK to say because it was a "cheerleading song" .. I mean why curse so much in the song that really does sound like it would appeal to cheerleaders and a much younger crowd.
Am I being too sensitive?

Re: Gwen stefani..
Yeah, I completely agree. I think a lot of artist are trying to reach a wider audience but they forget the more mature audience.

I agree. It is a song geared towards kids, there should be no cursing.

i just don't think she can decide what she wants to be. she needs to get her azz back with no doubt and "drop" a new record

OMG I was just talking about this the other day...
right before school ended... I was walking through the lobby and the radio had been on... two girls about 6 yrs old.. were listening to that Bananas song...WBLI had blocked out the S and half of the H sound so you heard This "hit" is bananas..etc... when the sang it...it sounded just like they were saying S**T... It just looked and sounded so gross...
Play a clean song or at least block out the whole word!

It's "Oh Mickey you're so fine..." with swear words. Unorginal IMO.
she's on my nerves.

"Hollaback Girl" is definitely NOT a song geared towards kids. Better go read the lyrics of the song again.
The song is about being a guy's second choice for a booty call.

Re: Gwen stefani..
Thats only one opinion of it...there have been a lot of different things popping up about what the song really means..
And even if that IS what the song is about, thats not my point....talking about cheering and all that, doing the Banana part in a Cheer tone etc, made it appealing towards kids...My nieces Cheerleading team is not the only one I know of using it... But even the sound of the song itself isint very mature, its cathy in a way to appeal to kids...
Again, I love Gwen, but I think the last few songs, not just this one sound so high schoolish.

Re: Gwen stefani..
I liked her better with No Doubt......she should go back to the days of Tragic Kingdon.
I am not a fan of her newer stuff, and if you have ever been to a No Doubt or Gwen Stefani concert, you know that even if she is not gearing her music toward jr high & high school aged girls...that's who's there anyway.
DH & I went to go see them with Garbage (I am actually a bigger Garbage fan) and we were swarmed by 12 year old screaming little girls trying to act & dress like her. It was a little frightening.

Ditto. I do have to admit she has a great look about her. She always reminded me of a beautiful porcelain doll, strangely enough.

So totally true! I loved the song "mickey"...
DH's 10 year old niece listens to songs that I would never approve of. Maybe it's just me but I just don't think it's appropriate for a 10 year old girl to be singing the words to the 50 cent "candy shop" song...
It's one thing when they are in school or with their friends and they listen to the songs, with you not around, but I would not allow it in the house. She puts the computer on or orders free music videos on cable of all inappropriate songs and blasts it and sings to it. last year when she was 9 she sang the words to the Kelis song "milkshake"...DH agreed with me that it is inappropriate for children that age to be singing the words to these kind of songs.
