gym question, you can be honest just looking for opinions..
So we have a gym at my apartment complex. It is stated "no kids allowed"
I walk all over the place with stroller in tow, but I have hit a weight plateau. So when Leo is around, I will go to the gym and run on treadmill, do some weights...
So the other morning, we are on our walk, the office doesn't open till 9 and its 7:30 AM. I wheel stroller into gym, park it, he is fine and playing, not a peep out of him, and run a mile, just to get moving..we were in there maybe 15 minutes. Well..this girl keeps shooting me evil looks, then gives the baby an eye roll. He is not in her way at all!
I know kids aren't allowed, but I would not have brought him in there if he was hanging all over the equipment or crying. I would not do it during office hours, I don't want to put them in the spot to ask me to leave..
my day moved along so much quicker, I went home and showered, the gym out of the way..
should I keep baby out? tia!

I think you should bring him, Kids does not mean babies, they probably mean more rambunctious kids, like 2 year olds!!!

I dont think it is a big deal as long as he is not running all over the place. Some people just have nothing better to do with their time than b*tch.

Look at your lease, does it state any consequences?

"no smoking" doesn't mean you can smoke as long as you aren't in someone's way, KWIM? I hate to say it but I think no kids allowed means, no kids allowed. OK, let the flaming begin LOL

I think the no kids rule is to prevent kids from hanging off the equipment and possibly getting injured. You have a baby that's not capable of causing that kind of chaos yet. I'd say bring him but if he were to start getting fussy then you can easily just pack up and leave.

yes, this is the main reason. Not because it's an "adult" only place. It's for liability if the kid touches the equipment, weights, etc..

honestly they should say "no children under the age of X" -- they do not define what a kid is on that sign as it is currently written...

I looked at my trusty dusty dictionary.com (not to be a PITA, but to really see b/c I didn't know)
I looked up kid and got child or young person so...
I looked up child and it said a person between birth and full growth

I would bring him until someone says something, then apologize and don't do it again.

Yup, all about insurance, your kid can't really get into trouble, just do it till it becomes a problem.

Although I agree that it's probably bigger kids running around and possibly getting hurt. But I wouldn't be bringing the baby anyway, no kids means no kids.

Re: gym question, you can be honest just looking for opinions..
I used to live in a complex with a no kids pool and gym. I have to say I would be annoyed if someone brought a baby in to either. After working all day with kids, I really didn't want to deal with other people's. I realize yours is a special case- he's just sitting there- but it opens the door to other people doing it since you did it.

Re: gym question, you can be honest just looking for opinions..
gotta be honest here...rules are rules
and they were put in place for a reason...
HOWEVER, a few things bother me here:
1. that nasty b***h that gave you the - well, i probably would have just looked at her and LMAO!
2. i would speak with the office, and PROPOSE that they institute a block of time for MOMMIES with infants to utilize the facility. it's not fair that SAHM's such as yourself cannot partake in the facility, just because they have an infant. (especially since you pay rent/fees in the complex just like everyone esle) - i bet if you present it as such, you'd set off a lightbulb in their head. hope it works out, keep us posted.

Re: gym question, you can be honest just looking for opinions..
thanks all!
I waited for leo to wake up today, he took baby for a walk then I went to the gym. I am back and forth with it. I am generally such a rule follower...this one is just hard.
Hopefully Leo's hours he works will level out in a few weeks. The gym is right near the pool, so that will be a great way for me to go to the gym, while Leo and baby are at the pool.
I think I was upset by the girl's attitude. I just had a baby, I can't fit into my clothes yet, he is being good..throw me a bone..
but this is one of the things that is going to happen that I have to chalk up to being away from family, the kid is with me 24/7. So I think I will avoid bringing him, unless one morning we walk by and no one is in the gym, then I am definitely hitting it.

Re: gym question, you can be honest just looking for opinions..
I think when they say no kids allowed they mean kids are not allowed to use the gym, not that you can't have your infant harnessed in his stroller next to you. If he's playing in the gym out of his stroller than I think you're really pushing it, but if he is still young enough that he's totally calm and content sitting in his stroller or carseat then fine.

I think you should ask if they can make a certain time of day that will allow you to bring him in
