Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
Can you tell me about your experiences with them?
And are there daddies that go? My DH is home with DS during the day and they are running out of things to do.
Is there any place where you can buy a package of classes (not sign up for a specific one) so if DH doesn't use them during the week, I could take him on the weekend?
TIA

We go to musicgarten classes that are in Medford and we LOVE it. This is our 2nd series of classes that we are taking. We live in Levittown and I don't mind driving out to Medford for them.
As far as absenses, they will let you make up a class at another time if you give her advanced notice, but you can't just randomly go to whatever class you want because she only has a certain amount of space in the room that the classes are done in.
If you want any more info about it let me know! Melissa

I go to a small playcenter in Sayville. They only offer this age group (12-18months) once a week but if you missed you can make up in another class. There is also one day a week for free play for 2 hours that is included in the price. I think it is a 12 week session. Sometimes Dad's go too but its mostly moms as I have seen so far.

I go to Gymboree and Music Together. DH has taken DD to Gymboree, and there are other dads there too - sometimes. Not every time we go.
THere are also plenty of dads at Barnes & Noble Storytime...

We can't afford Gymboree, but I'm hoping to take Cailen to music together in the winter - we are going to pool any Xmas money we get for that - I can't wait!!!! I have heard wonderful things about it!!!

I take Andrew to a Gymnastics Place in RVC and he loves it. It is not really that structured yet for his age which I love. He gets to run around and then they help him out with the equipment and we have circle time.
I think any place that DC can get out and be with other children is great.

I've read that with Gymboree if you miss a class you can make it up another day. So if he misses on say tuesday, you can make it up Sat. or Sunday as long as they have that class available. At least that's how I interpreted it. I haven't been yet..something ALWAYS comes up after I schedule a free class.

Not only is that true but you can attend every class that is offered during the week as long as it's the same level class that you signed up for (or at least that is the case at the Merrick location).
There is always at least one daddy at the class i attend.

Re: Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
We go to music together and while there isn't usually any dads, last week we had 2.
I think honestly, he will not have a problem wherever he goes - the moms will accept him (hey they are all nurturers right?) - if anything it will be more of an issue with him not feeling comfortable.
I would recommend that he take a trial (free) class at a few different places and see which one he likes best.
There are also a few different places that have open play times - maybe that is an option since there is no commitment?

Re: Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
My DH takes DD to My Gym twice a week. One time is for the official class and the other time is for Open play. They have a good time. My DH is kind of shy so I'm sure he keeps to himself but he definitely enjoys taking DD & playing.

Re: Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
Nate has been going to Little Gym since he was 9 months and DH goes in with him most of the time. We go on Sat mornings and the class is usually 75% dads. I guess it's their bonding time with DC. I know that little gym lets you make up classes anytime in the semester.

Re: Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
DD goes to Gymboree, and DS did as well. I went about half the time, and there were other dads on occasion. More on the weekends. It's mainly a scheduling issue. It's hard for dads to get an hour off in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. Not that working moms have it any easier, just the gender divide is still there, and more women are with the kids during the day (either mom, or nanny).

Re: Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
We're taking Music Together and there are Dads there. One dad comes alone with his son. The others I've seen are there with their wives. (I take a Sunday class) My DS LOVES the class. He smiles and holds his hands up in excitement the whole time. (He's about 5-1/2 months)

Re: Gymboree, Little Gym, Music Together, etc.
We use gymboree. We pay $369.00 for 16 weeks unlimited gym & music. So we can attend all gym classes for his age group & freeplay. They have classes during the week & weekends. You should check it out. I think it was the best "deal" out there.
