Gymnastics for boys

Im pretty sure I will be siging Rj up for gymnastics until I can get him into sports program (and if he likes it he can do both)

I dont see anything wrong with boys in gymnastic, I would even sign him up for dance- but DH give me "the look" when I told him.

My son is 3yrs old, and VERY active. With the weather getting cold(not being able to go outside)- we will not survive w/o being able to get that energy outChat Icon

ETA- Rj did mommy and me @ my gym last year and loved it- but this is ACTUAL gymnastics- NO MOMMY included.

I believe it- I danced my whole life and there was always this beautiful guy in my classes- with a body to Chat Icon for...lol

DH on the other hand...well is finding this hard to swallowChat Icon Chat Icon

RJ loves sports, and I know thats where he wants to be- but Im finding it so hard to find someone who takes them at age 3 and has classes that working moms can attend.

I think he should go to dance with Gilly and you hide it from Big Ry Chat Icon
OK, so gymnastics...The main reason I didnt switch Gilly from dance was bc dance is 34/ month and gymnastics is 74. We go away alot and I can deal with losing 10 dollars for a week....25 I would croak. Now if they had gymnastics on weekdays that would be perfect!
I think ry would be good at whatever he does.
BTW...I thought you wrote..."My 3 yr old is attractive"...instead of active..LOL
EVEN though RY is the MOST attractive child ever!!!!!!!! (Gilly says so)Chat Icon

Maybe show DH that it isn't GYMNASTICS like the girls on the Olympics and it is more just a kid's version. It really isn't girly AT ALL! I really think at this age it is really more of a GYM class not a gymnastics class, KWIM?

This class is a weekday- but its a 3-4yr old class.

Why dont the have a boy activity (like dance) that only costs 34/monthChat Icon

Well I know it focus' on "gymnastics" skills (beams, rolls, kart wheels- or so says the website)

But I think Im just gonna do it, and like I said WHEN a sports thing rolls around Rj can choose to do both or one or the other...

Yup. Just focus on the fact that RJ NEEDS to get out and get some energy out during the winter and this is it.

Re: Gymnastics for boys

Gymnastics will give DS the foundation for ANY sport. Balance, flexibility, strength, etc. It will do nothing but help him no matter what direction he goes later in life (or even if he stays in Gymnastics).

The men's gymnastics teams at the Olympics are some of the most muscular men (outside of the freakish body builders) I've ever seen. I think that's pretty manly. External Image

DS is in karate, but that's mainly because I'm so involved in it. I would have no problem putting him in gymnastics if he wanted to. At some point we may do it anyway, just to expose him to it.

Re: Gymnastics for boys

Nicholas was in gymnastics when he was that age and loved it. They set up an entire obstacle course type thing with attention on each piece of apparatus. There were a lot of boys in the class. They even have an all boys class at GMGC but I think it starts around 5.

Good to know....

I would prefer him to have mixed class vs being with all girls (I feel like we are surrounded by girls)
