Habits you created that you sincerely wish you never started.....
I was reflecting today at all the mistakes (for lack of a better word) that I made with DC #1 and surely will not do with DC #2.
The main one is sleeping in our bed (which is really great and sweet, but I really desire my own space ) and general spoiling (DH's fault; not mine).
What are yours?

Not getting rid of the pacifier early on. DS is 22m and still gets it for his nap and bedtime. He is extremely attached to it, it's not going to be pretty when we cut it/take it away

The obsession with reading a hundred books before bed. Sometimes I just want to go to sleep.

go here link -- it's stories read by celebs (like betty white) and they show pics inside the books. It's awesome and takes the pressure off of you!

not sure yet, we killed all the bad habits we started, paci, tv, etc ...
But I learned a lot through this one, and I definitely will try things differently next time around.

wow this fabulous! I'm so ordering a bunch. DS is obsessed with books, I better get started with this. I enjoy his 5 page board books and think they end too soon, but I have no idea how bad it will be when he discovers the 40 page storybook his grandma bought.
eta: oh I thought it was prerecorded books, its just books on tv

Rocking DD to sleep for naps...She's 15 months now, and I still have to sit with her on most days in order for her to nap.
Fortunately at night I can just put her down and walk out of the room, but naptime is a WHOLE different story.
having a hard time breaking this one...any suggestions are welcome!

This w/ our 2 year old son. He started waking up around 1 am & I'd rock him & then put him down & at some point he was sick & when I went to put him down he wasa crying/crying. I felt bad he was sick; so I took him in our bed (DH was working nights). Well the next time he woke up & I went to put him down he pointed to our room & said mama bed.
Now it's 6 months later & it's 3 out of 4 nights. I don't mind when its just me; but if DH is here; we're kicked; slapped and held all night long.
Also w/ DS he STILL has his bottle & I'm dreading taking it away.
Instead of getting better; I got worse w/ the 2nd one.

Holding her until she falls asleep
I started it out of necessity. Her crib is in our living room so I couldnt just put her in the crib, turn on the TV and sit right there and expect her to sleep.
I sit in the glider, give her a bottle, and walk back and forth -- total takes 20 minutes.
and then I can eat in here, watch TV, go online, talk to DH and stays asleep.
I cant wait until she has her own room!!!!

Letting DD put all the books and stuffed animals she wants in her crib...
b/c now if they fall over as she's laying down, it takes 45878452 minutes for her to adjust each stuffed animal!
I probably will miss this though

Giving him a basketball too early and teaching him to throw. He now throws everything. When he's done with the bottle he launches it across the room. He throws all his toys, my phone, remote, spoons, food, everything!. The teacher at daycare complained about playing fetch all the time. He hit another kid in the head today with the alphabet blocks.

Putting Emerson to bed with a bottle (in the crib) She cannot fall asleep without one now. She screams until she gets it including naps as well
I dont even remember when it started! All I know is I hate that she needs it to sleep.

Re: Habits you created that you sincerely wish you never started.....
Bad habit...dd falls asleep on the couch and we move her each night. We only started this b/c when she was an infant, she had bad reflux and had to sit up after bottles/meals. So she got used to being placed in a bouncer and sitting with us until she fell asleep. So now we are in this BAD habit that she only gets put to bed when asleep.

Same here...I remember it started last June when I was sick and he wouldn't let anyone but me feed him his night bottle.. I did it for 4 days. and when I tried to go back to feeding him his night bottle, he wanted nothing to do with it..I have tried to break the habit so many times, but it is a security thing with him now...
