Not getting rid of the pacifier early on. DS is 22m and still gets it for his nap and bedtime. He is extremely attached to it, it's not going to be pretty when we cut it/take it away Chat Icon Chat Icon

Rocking DD to sleep for naps...She's 15 months now, and I still have to sit with her on most days in order for her to nap.

Fortunately at night I can just put her down and walk out of the room, but naptime is a WHOLE different story.

having a hard time breaking this one...any suggestions are welcome!

This is me too. Daycare started it and I had to continue it, but now daycare doesn't do it anymore. They tell my DS to go lay down for nap and he actually lays down and goes to sleep. At home it's a different story. He is 29 months and I am still ROCKING him to sleep. Ugg.

I didn't start it but my MIL started giving DD#1 chocolate milk. Now she will only drink chocolate milk. I mean we put a tiny amount in and she only has 1 glass per day, but I wish we had never started.

DD#2 still gets put down for naps and bedtime with a bottle when I am not there. I've told DH and MIL that we need to stop letting her fall asleep with the bottle and it goes in one ear and out the other.

Swapping out a lovey for his pacifier. He started sucking on the loveys instead at 5 months and now at almost 3 he still does it. I don't allow them out of his bedroom but OMG Chat Icon are they gross!

Re: Habits you created that you sincerely wish you never started.....

you'd think that by #3 we would have it all down pat. But of course every child is different.

Bad habits w/#1 was sleeping in the bed with us and having to be snuggled and back rubbed to go to bed.

Broke that habit with #2 as she is awesome at going to be along by herself with nothing other than a blankie and pillow.

bad habit with DD#2- letting her watch tv for an hour at night to relax and calm down before bed.

Broke that with #3- but she won't sleep in her crib for more than 1-2 hours at a shot and we've made need to be walked/rocked or snuggled to get to sleep. (seems like it all comes full circle). Atleast with her there's a medical reason for us needing to be close to her to check to make sure she has no more apnic episodes. Once your child stops breathing on you, you don't really tend to care as to what you said you wouldn't do. they're only young once so enjoy it! no matter what there's always going to be something that you can always change, its a learning experience.

Putting Emerson to bed with a bottle (in the crib)
She cannot fall asleep without one now. She screams until she gets it Chat Icon including naps as well

I dont even remember when it started! All I know is I hate that she needs it to sleep.

Same here. I wish I had kicked the bottle all together before 1 when he was losing interest in it!
