Had a TTC check up today
So I went to see my gyno today it was for my 6 month annual and to talk more about my TTC situation. It will be a year of us trying in January.
Last time I saw her in April she checked me for PCOS and I didn't have it. Which was great news but I still haven't gotten my AF on my own. I was prescribed Provera 2x and this cycle (I am currently on CD 97 ) I wanted to see if AF came on her own and how long.
My Gyno and I decided that we should try Metaformin. I will start at 500mg a day. See how it goes and then up it next month.
I haven't posted here in a while because there wasn't much going on. But I am going to come back and post my progress with the metaformin.
Has anyone been prescribed Metaformin? What are the side effects that you have experienced on it?
Thanks ladies.

Re: Had a TTC check up today
You are on a pretty low doseage of the Met. I was started right away at 1500mgs, and I won't lie, I felt awful on it! You need to be careful with what you eat while taking the Met because it can really upset your stomach. Just watch your sugar and carb intake. We had to lower my doseage and then go back up to 1500mgs, and doing it that way helped ALOT.

Re: Had a TTC check up today
I very rarely get my period without help from meds. My OBGYN put me clomid when I was TTC so I would ovulate and get my period. I got p/g this way a few times(had 4 m/c's and one DD) and I am now 16 weeks p/g from Clomid. It will happen for you too! GOOD LUCK!

Re: Had a TTC check up today
If you haven't had your period in almost 100 days something is wrong. She says you don't have PCOS but is prescribing Metformin? What tests did she do to determine your diagnosis? In all honesty, you have been trying for almost a year and are not getting your period, I would see an RE. You will get much better treatment from an RE than from your OB/GYN. An RE is a specialist in these things. I take metformin - 1500mg. I started at 1000mg. I am also taking clomid. I felt like crap the first few months on the met, make sure you have immodium on hand!

She took a bunch of bloodwork and sent me for a sono. The sono showed I had no cyst. I am overweight and she believe that my weight is causing me not to OV and get AF. She said that she knows I can OV on my own because I got pregnant before and was getting reguar AF after DS was born. It was after my weight started piling on that my AF started to get irregular. She says that the Metaformin will help jump start OV for me.
My Dh is always reminding me to ask more questions.
I want to see an RE but right now we can't. Our ins is running out very soon and we will have to deal with being without coverage for about a month until my DH job picks us up. Which totally suxs but there is nothing else at this point we can do. Once we get the new coverage I am going to have my gyno recommend a RE. After a year I am so ready to get the ball rolling a lot faster than it has been.
