Had my 1st internal yesterday at 36 wks....
And Doc said I am completely closed - is that normally the case for 36 wks?

I told u my opinions on stripping membranes...and u aren't done yet either so let he/she come when they come!
u can go from nothing to something 1-2-3.
I always did.

Means nothing! I walked around 3 cm with DS#1 for 2 weeks and ended up being induced.
DS#2, was closed up and tight at my 38 week appt, and went into labor the next day.

I didnt show any progress at all untill my 39 week visit and I delivered 2 days later and she didn't do anything to stir things up either.

Last week when I was 38 weeks, dr said cervix is completely shut.
My appt is today, so hopefully, something will have happened.

I went last week at 35 wks and had my 1st internal and I was just under 1 cm dilated. I go again tomorrow and hope I made some progress, but it seems that being dilated really doesnt mean anything. I would be very happy to have him within the next couple of weeks. I am so big and uncomfortable.

Effacement (the thinning of the cervix) I think is a better indication of progressing towards labor. I was closed until the day I went into labor but my cervix kept thinning every week.

I think it is normal. I was dialated 1cm at 36 weeks, but I ended up going over my due date and getting induced, and a friend of mine wasn't dialated at all, and the next week she was at 3, so don't worry!

Totally normal.... I had one last week at 36 weeks and I was under 1cm.
With DS I was 3cm for 3 weeks and was 1 week late.

i remember my mom being so downhearted with my sister b/c she was 1cm for a solid month, finally they induced at 2 weeks late. it still took about 18 hours!

totally normal. I was 40 weeks and still nothing!!!! Cervix high and hard, I was induced and it took 3 cervidil to finally do the job!!!

WHHOOOAaa - easy on that labor dust!!! I still have 4 wks!!! I'll take every bit of those 4 wks as well - still have so much to do - but thatnks everyone - I just don't want to go wks over with nothing happening - or pull a Rachel during delivery where she sees every woman come and go out of delivery (funniest Friends episode EVER!!!)

I agree. Same here. I wasn't dialated at all at 34 weeks. 4 days later, I had the baby.
