Had my 1st RE appt and have a ? about the HSG
If you're ovulating does that mean that your tubes are clear? Wouldn't blocked tubes prevent the egg from descending down the fallopian tubes therefore resulting in no ovulation? I may be making this too simple of an explanation b/c I don't want to do the HSG.
I wish I would've thought of this when I was at the dr but it was a little overwhelming just being there.
Thanks, ladies!

I am not sure, but I have to get the HSG too, and I am sure I am ovulating because I got pg twice, but m/c, my doctor also said that the test also checks to make sure your uterus was formed properly as well as checks the tubes.

Oh, I see. He didn't mention the uterus part. I thought he could tell with the sonogram he did. Thanks for the info!

Yes, you can still ovulate and have damaged tubes.
When you ovulate, an egg is released from your ovary and expelled into the pelvic cavity and swept into the Fallopian tube. If you have both tubes blocked, then the egg may not get swept up. If you have one blocked tube, it is possible that the other good tube could grab that egg.

Nope-we think my remaining tube is blocked and I O like clockwork. Ovulation is the act of the egg coming out of the follicle-what happens after that does not matter. KWIM?

Thank you for the helpful info, everyone! I'm a big baby when it comes to medical procedures. Not fair that all DH has to do is get a SA and he's bellyaching about that!

Re: Had my 1st RE appt and have a ? about the HSG
Unfortunately ovulation does not mean clear tubes. A woman can ovulate perfectly but if her tubes are blocked there is no way for the egg to fertilize or travel to the uterus. I know that the thought of it isn't pleasant but the HSG is a very important test. It is very quick and I only had slight cramping. HTH!

HSG is also important to check the conture of the uterus. At times the contour may cause infertility or m/c
Take 800mg of motrin with food one hour before the HSG it takes 5 minutes
Just think you'll be one step closer and maybe you'll get pregnant after the hsg
