Hair & Bad Water?

So my best friend went to get her annual Japanese Straightening session and her hair dresser told her the water she's using to wash her hair is bad....

She lives in DUMBO (Bklyn) and her buildings an industrial turned residential so I'm sure the water tank isn't the best...but isn't water water???

How could water be bad for your hair?

depending on your location...it may have a higher calcium content or flouride content. it also depends on how the city purifies their water. some cities have very advanced systems to get out most of the minerals to make it softer...but the water in the city and the boros is very harsh.

Re: Hair & Bad Water?

In some areas, the water has lots of mineral deposits that is bad for hair and your color--even your skin.

That's why Jonathan from Blow Out has this "Beauty Water" filter thing you can buy.....I think my water is fine, though. Basically one day he didn't have water, so he bathed and washed with bottled water and his hair and skin were FABULOUS....so he marketed this. It's a filter for the shower. It's at Sephora...I secretly want it.

me too- but I hated the shampoo- Jake does the BEST impression of him- he was using the shampoo one day and I heard him talking like Jonathon - I was dying

Re: Hair & Bad Water?

Water definately has an effect on your hair. If it is too hard, too much iron, etc it will have some bad results. You can get a softner filter for your shower at Home Depot that can really help.

Our water is pretty gross, it's a really old building.
