hair color at home
ive had my hair colored for years at the salon. always had highlights in all shades of blonde.
i recently went darker again with much less highlights..i think i want to get back to my natural color of dark/medium brown.
question is, because my hair was highlighted for so long and so light, my dark hair turned lighter again since my last dye job. i dont want to keep spending money on color.
anyone ever try those color glazes or what not? i want it to just be richer and shinier. im afraid the color will get icky by myself.
suggestions and experiences welcome!
TIA

I use this and love it:

I would ask someone at Sally what color they recommend for your color. I would start out gradual and work your way darker as you continue to do it on your own. I do not suggest making drastic changes on your own . . . .

Re: hair color at home
I use Feria in a shade that matches my hair, just to cover greys - but it looks very natural as it has highlights.

Re: hair color at home
You must also buy the developer, gloves and an applicator bottle.
Whatever you use, stay away from anything with ammonia (causes much brassiness.) You may have to use this more often, but IMO it will give you a more natural color than store bought dyes and permanent colors . . .
It is an equivalent to redken shades, if you have ever had that put in professionally . . .
Denise Venti, who did my hair for the wedding actually recommended this to me . . .

Re: hair color at home
I used a colorgloss before my wedding. I really like it and it made my hair very dark. I decided I wanted to stop completely and the color did fade, but its never completely leaves your hair. Mine is still a little there, but you can't really tell unless you're looking for it. Since you've colored your hair before your hair is very porous and will soak up anything easily. You may want to 1) test 2) leave it on for less time. Also if your want a more neutral color vice red (if your hair picks up red easily like mine) so go for a blue or blue-purple based color only. They will not make it too ash or too red. Always test!
