I have used the Cactus salon in Commack and Smithtown, I am not sure if that's in the area you are looking for, but they did a great job. For my wedding, I paid a little extra and had them come to my house.

I've always had a good experience at Hair Together in Northport. I have not been back in awhile, since I moved away, but my SIL and my sister used them for their weddings and for the girls in their wedding party. I don't have a name to give you but usually a salon will recommend one of their stylist for updos, giving you someone that is good at it and actually likes doing them.
