Hair stylists- or anyone who knows-remedy for too blonde highlites
So I got highlights the other day and I am realizing she went way too light. I'm really not liking them at all. WAY too bright.
I know I can go back and have her either tone them down or add in some lowlights, but I really don't have a lot of time to go back there.
Is there anything I can do at home to just tone them down a drop? Like maybe a color depositing shampoo or something?
If not, I will have to go back, but I am just trying to avoid that and wanted to see if there was anything I could do at home.

i would get a toner done by a professional... I wouldnt want to add more dye to my hair right after getting the process done.

I really just want the blonde to be toned down- like not so bright and shocking. I would like to just do something that cuold add a little color. Are those John Frieda glazes you can buy in the drugstore any good?

suck it up and go back to the salon if you mess it up and home you will ahve to pay to get the whole thing done again and that would really suck!

I know,. I know.
i was looking for an easy way out.
But you are right- i have to find the time to go back
It just irks me because I spent a lot of money and more importantly a lot of time- and as a full time working mom, I dont' have a lot of time for all thes appointments.
And she knew I didn't want it TOO blonde- but apparantly didn't listen!

go back and tell them, you asked for it not to be so blond but it is too blond, you gave the stylist benefit of doubt, but after a few days you realized you are really miserable, a good salon will fix it for free
My sister is a stylist, if she did it, you could come back 101 times and she'd fix it free every time.
I would not risk it at home, when you are dealing with blond colors the chemistry can get very wacky

My cousin says that if it's too bright you can wash your hair with dish soap and it will dull the color a bit the more you do it

I thought my high lights were too blonde as well, but everybody kept telling me they looked great, so I kept them & now I love them. Maybe you just need to get used to them? I'm definitely going darker for the fall though.

I'm having this issue too, hence my post about a new hair person. I'm going Thursday to a new place to hopefully make my hair look normal again. Mine is SO LIGHT, it's ridiculous!!!!!

Yeah I feel like I look like someone scared me and my hair turned white!
Yet others say it's not even that noticeably different than my old highlights.
I just feel like color is such a crap shoot!

Re: Hair stylists- or anyone who knows-remedy for too blonde highlites
yes hair color is a science.
even when doingssomeones hair for years...once ina while it comes out a tiny bit different....even the exact same formula.
thats why its called having a relationship with your stylist lol one that you can trust and be honest with that is.
so you can work together and alter things here and there!
just think of the rich and famous ...you better believe they are getting their hair tweaked more than you can imagine!
( i have the same formula in my hair for about 2 years now. i suppose due to hormones etc...its come out different two times! so i understand the frustration :) )
