Haircut conundrum

I've have long, straight hair that 99% of the time is up in a pony-tail by mid-morning.

I've been admiring a lot of the shorter cuts, but know they are a lot of maintenance and require at least monthly upkeep.

Part of me wants to just go in for the change but then I know it's back to constant maintenance.

Right now I go a really long time before cuts.

To cut or not to cut, that is the question.

Note: I have had numerous lengths in the past, even super short pixie cut but that has been awhile.

Haircut conundrum

I felt the same way as you, except I have curly hair that I straighten and then throw up, so I chopped it all off last February. I loved the style and got so many compliments but I couldn't keep up with it and hated having to fix it every morning. Growing it out was horrible. It looked really awkward for a while. So I swore I would never cut it again.

I don't even know.

I've gotten chin length layered bobs as recent as last year but I am admiring the pixies too.

Yeah, the growing out thing is a huge PITA.

What about just cutting a few inches and adding long layers?

This is what I do typically.

I think I am craving doing something drastic.

My sister and I look alike and she always has super short hair so I know I can pull it off.

I actually booked an appointment for this morning so we shall see what I end up with!

Haircut conundrum

If your hair is straight and you cut it short its really not a that much maintenance. I cut my hair in an angled bob a few years ago because like you I have always had the same haircut for years. Long with layers. So I went drastic. I loved it! It was sooo easy to maintain. It was easier and faster to blow dry. The only thing I really had to spend any time on was the front and I mean an extra 5 or 10 min styling it that's it.
The only thing I didn't like was the upkeep of the haircuts and I felt that everytime I went back it was never cut as good as that first time and at that point the maintenance became a HUGE PITA... So I let it grow out and THAT was a HUGE PITA as well. I hated my hair for a lil while when it was growing out. BUT I have to say my hair grew back super healthy and longer than ever.

It was super fun and sometimes I want to do something drastic again I just don't want to deal with the hassle of growing it out.

Re: Haircut conundrum

Well I'm back and I love the cut!

She did the short in the back, angled bob layered cut but this time with a side swept bang.

I'm very pleased. She also thinned out so much of my hair so it's literally like pounds are gone.

The woman convinced me to try this length first before going to a pixie since that's crazy drastic.

I think she knows her stuff.

She said she's had people do that before from my previous length hair, and then cry.

I also tried a new salon too and was very happy with their service.

The place I've been going to has cut down on hours and it's hard to get an appointment.

Very brave

I haven't cut my hair in like 2 years. I can't bring myself to do it.

New year, new hair! Congrats and glad you enjoy it.

Re: Haircut conundrum

A pixie is super easy to grow out if you have a great stylist. I've grown it out twice. The first time was rough. Second time was super easy and no awkward phases.
