Halloween with a newborn?

Our DS will be about a month and a half old at Halloween. I've been seeing all of the cute buntings and such (there was a chili pepper that I fell in love with), but I'm wondering what you do with them if you take them trick or treating. I'm assuming that you can't put them in the carseat because there's no way to get the strap between their legs Chat Icon Do you just carry them around in your arms? I would love to get him the chili pepper costume, but I'm not sure how to go about it with the car seat.

Sorry if this is a ridiculous question.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

DD was 3 months & we made her a bee that was bulky; but we didn't take her trick or treating until she could walk. She was in my arms though when I answered the door to hand out candy & we took pics in her bumbo seat (but she was a bit older)

DS was almost 4 months last year and we just held him and walked up and down the block. we didn't go trick or treating in the traditional sense, but visited our neighbors and friends. i even took him in the car in his costume to visit my aunt and uncleChat Icon

Connor was a cat. Meagan will be the same this year Chat Icon

We went to my parents and a few friends and for a little walk. It was more for us to take a ton of pics. We got together with a few friends with other babies for a group shot a day or so before.

Damien was just 6 weeks his first Halloween. We just brought him around to the grandparents. We didn't take him trick or treating.

Yeah - I should have been more specific Chat Icon We're not going door to door with him for candy (although momma does love herself some good Halloween loot! Chat Icon ). We'll be walking around the neighborhood with our friends that have a 5 year old and 3 year old twins. Chat Icon

Basically the question boils down to - hold him in the bunting, or find a "costume" where we can keep him in the infant carrier... Chat Icon

Ahhh got ya! Chat Icon

Hmmm the thing with Halloween is you never know how the weather will be. If we have an Indian Summer it could be warmish or if not it could be chilly. I love those little bunting costumes (the chili pepper is sooo cute!!Chat Icon) I really think you could go either way. I guess it depends how long you want to hold him for.

If you are going to have him in the carrier in the stroller and just be walking the neighborhood one of the bunting costumes should be OK. I wouldn't take him in the car like that but just to walk around should be fine. You'll probably be taking him out a lot anyway to show him off!!

DD was 10 days old her first Halloween. We dressed her up and had some family over, we didn't go out.
