Hand sanitizer?
My DD has developed what I guess can be described as severe eye irritation from hand sanitizer. One pump has temporarily blinded her- twice. It’s clearly an issue of aerosols and/or fumes getting into her eyes.
They don’t use sanitizer at school, they wash their hands. But with the uptick of cases I’m worried that she’ll be given some at dance, religion class, etc.
I know I sound like a nut for suggesting my kid not use hand sanitizer during a pandemic. How would you approach this? She knows she has a reaction to it, but she’s a shy kid who I can see taking too long to explain the situation and being ignored. I also feel like people think I’m exaggerating.

Hand sanitizer?
Can you reach out via email and let them know? Also - are there options at these places to wash hands instead so all bases are covered?
Or is it all hand sanitzer? Could you send her with her own Bath and Body works kind which doesn't seem to be as harsh?

Hand sanitizer?
I’d say she an allergy to it and can’t use it.

This is what I would tell them also. She allergic to most hand sanitizers so she is unable to use it.

This exactly. I’d even say ‘severe’ allergy so they can take it seriously. I’d call all the places she goes too in case she’s not able to tell them. Maybe u can get her natural hand sanitizers to use as a last resort in case she can’t wash her hands?

Re: Hand sanitizer?
I would tell her not to use any and if possible just wash her hands if they are making a big deal out of it. We don't use it in our home and my oldest is the only one that used to be obsessed with it. I have some if anyone who comes over wants it but I hate the smell and think if overdone, it won't work.

Hand sanitizer?
Thanks all. I must have a sixth sense because she was apparently forced to use it in music class yesterday even after she explained. I emailed her teacher to let her know and ask that she be allowed to wash her hands whenever sanitizer is needed.
