Handmaidens tale HULU series!!!!!
Anyone watching????
I want to talk about the show but need someone to talk to. I need to talk about the ending of episode 3!!

I read the book before watching the series. I finished episode 3. It's so messed up but I see parallels to today's society. The book was written in the mid 80's and that is the "today's" society in the book.

For the most part, so far, yes. But the series does take into account the 30 year time difference from when the book was written to now.

Handmaidens tale HULU series!!!!!
SO I have a question. And its a spoiler so don't read more if you have not seen.
I have a question about the operation (rory from Gilmore girls) had at the end of episode 3.
Did they remover her Clit?
And also with the masks after she was arrested. Did they cut the women's tongue's out?? I'm really only guessing. Was the mask just to make them completely subservient?

Yes, they performed female genital mutilation on her. The Aunt quote a bible quote regarding something along the lines of removing the object removes the desire.
I believe the masks are just to keep them quiet; not removing their tongue.

Did anyone watch episode 4 yet? I was totally sobbing the whole time. Thank goodness my husband wasn't home or he would have thought I was insane. This show is so depressing, but I just can't stop watching. The flashbacks to her happy life are killing me.
On a side note, I just want to scream at the commander.

I'm on episode 3! My best friend and I always watch This is US but since we can't right now, we're watching this. It is SO good. I wish we could binge watch. LOL. I really thought I wasn't going to like it.
