Hanging new doors (interior) question

Has anyone hung new doors inside their home, like the white 6 panel ones? I was wondering if you had to replace the molding around each door when you did it? Thanks!

We did those! We hung the doors with a new frame, so yes we had to rplace the molding. If you are just installing the door (no new frame) you should be fine with the molding.

We hung new doors and used the old frame, we replaced the molding because the old molding was a mess... If you're door frames are level and straight you'll probably be fine...

You can either do the blanks, which are the doors without the mouldings, or you can get the doors with the whole frame.

Re: Hanging new doors (interior) question

I had all the interior doors in my apartment replaced. I bought just the door slabs (no frame, no pre-hung, just the door itself).

We used the existing door frames... we have steel frames in my apartment and they are next to impossible to remove.

I had to have my own door handle drilled... along with shaving to install the door-side hinge.

I had somebody do the work for me and he was EXCELLENT. Some of my frames were a little crooked but he cut my doors perfectly to accomodate for this.
