Harry Potter fans
I cant wait for the movie of Book 5 to come out. Since Goblet of Fire has been on TV so much I am re reading Books 5 and 6 and I noticed a few things I don't remeber notcing before..
Like that Luna and Harry are the only ones who can hear behind the Death curtain, because, I assume they've seen death, but others have surely had loved ones die, right? So what is really behind the curtain?
it also occured me to that Sirius is not dead. I assumed the curse that hit him was Avada Kedarva, but it never says that. It could have been a stun, so he fell backwards into what we are asuming is death, but there must be more to it. Maybe he'll become a ghost because of his unfinished business with harry?
I was wondering if anyone was up for a discussion ebcause I am on a huge HArry Potter kick right now. I need a fix.

Re: Harry Potter fans
I'm still trying to get over the fact that they killed Dumbledore! And that Snape disappeared with Malfoy after his death - something seems too fishy for Dumbledore to die and Snape move to the dark side.....it's too easy.

Re: Harry Potter fans
It is too easy!
I am almost about to start Book 6, but it's at FH's house and he keeps forgetting to bring it over for me!
I only read Book 6 once, so I am looking forward to reading it again to catch what I missed the first time. It's amazing re-reading the early books (which I haven't actually done since Book 6 came out and I really should do again), how much of the later books is intertwined and foreshadowed.
I know! But I sort of knew that had to kill Dumbledore because he was always a buffer between HArry and Voldemort. At some point HArry has to act alone.
Also, my big prediction for Book 7 is that Harry is going to have to choose between killing or letting a loved one die and killing Voldemort.

Re: Harry Potter fans
I think we are supposed to assume that Harry and Luna actually WITNESSED a death, while other just knew people who died. Making it more traumatic for them and allowing them to see the Horse things that move the carriages and hear behind the curtain.
My suspicion is that killing Voldemort is going to somehow "undo" the thing that Sirius fell into and he's going to come back to Harry. I don't think we've seen the last of him.
I mean, the kid has to have some sort of happy ending, right?
I also think he and Luna are going to be a strong force together in this upcoming one.
Ever since seeing the trailer for the next movie (JULY!!!! ) I've been rereading the books too. I'm only on Book 1 still though.

Re: Harry Potter fans
I hope not-- I'd love to see Gary Oldman in future HP flicks..
I really believe that Dumbledore is not dead and I will be willing to be Sirus is not either-- these are the only two people thay Harry is close with, and it is cruel for JK to take them away from him-- unless Harry meets his demise at the end of the series and joins them all in wizard heaven- and they can be together then.

Re: Harry Potter fans
Oh I definitely think Dumbledore is dead.
Like Jenn said, I think he had to die to remove that buffer for Harry.
BUT I think he will be even more powerful in death (he can move around in pictures now!!)

Sirious is def dead... She said that she doesnt bring people back once she kills them off.
Also.. Dombledor is def dead. i think dumbledore was begging snape to kill him because it saved Malfoy and also because he knew it was more important that Snape stay "in" with the death eaters.

As far as I know, Jo has said once someone is dead they are dead. And she said Dumbledore is absolutely dead. She did not say that about Sirius, leaving doubt.
ETA: As I said before, the curse that hit Sirius may have been a stun charm, not avada kedavra, so he may have fallen into the curtain "death", still alive

Re: Harry Potter fans
I think that even though Dumbledore may be dead, I believe he'll still be able to commincate with Harry through the one of the Headmaster's office wall paintings, assuming they don't shut down the school.
I don't think Sirius is dead either.
Now you made me want to go back and re-read it all. I forgot about the death curtain.

I could have sworn I read an interview that said sirious cannot come back through the curtain though.. maybe even on her website where she answers questions
What is your take on the horcruxes? I think harry may actually BE one himself...which sucks cause then he would have to die to defeat Voldemort

That's how he "died". He fell through the curtain in the death chamber. He may not have been dead before going through the curtain. it's posisble he was just stunned.
I don't know what happens if someone crosses the death curtain. And why is that set up like an amphitheatre? it reminds me of some kind of ritual.

Re: Harry Potter fans
I don't know- I have to reread the books. Does anyone know when the last book is coming out. I think the new movie coming out next year also.
I remember Book 5 being kinda boring. I felt that there was a lot of administrative stuff going on. Book 6 was good but I was devestated when she killed Dumbledore. But I understand why she did it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Harry dies in the next book. After the last book she clearly doesn't play to people's sympathies and favorite characters. She always said that anyone could die, including Harry.
