I have not changed my views but I have been able to see the "other sider of the coin" whereas in the beginning of the discussion, I could not ita. One political discussion a while back sparked me to do some great research.....

Re: Has a debate on here ever changed your mind?
Not necessarily on this site but IRL I have had the situation come up where I held one belief but when a different POV came up I was swayed.
I'm always open to different opinions. I may not agree with all of them but I certainly will respect people for having their own beliefs and possibly swaying my own.

OOH but a debate on here HAS changed my mind on how I feel and view certain posters. For instance, I may feel like I like someone more because of the way they handled themselves or I may conect with someone who I never connected with before because we have the same POV or I may no longer like someone because of the way they carried themselves or the their inability to add nothing of worth to debates but more tension and repetitive childish remarks ita with this too. I have gained a lot of respect for certain posters b/c of how well they represent in a debate.

Absolutely!
To answer my own question - I never saw the big deal with going to a pet store to get a dog/cat before.
Now I'm much more informed about it and know that next time I won't go there and I try to educate others.

I have never changed my stance on something per se but debates have allowed me to view things from a different angle or made me think hmmm..."I never thought of that before." Usually I find them pretty enlightening - we have som many intelligent and articulate girls!
When they get vicious I make my exit.

Well, that's because it's a cute little baby.
If it were a tiny dog dressed as a peep we'd have a brawl.

Re: Has a debate on here ever changed your mind?
like others have said this site has made me see "the other side" of arguments but has never really change MY opinion.
an example that comes to mind is that whole "ghetto" debate. I can honestly say before reading that thread I have NEVER thought that word was offensive! The thought never crossed my mind and it made me talk to people IRL about it that I have used the word in front of

Re: Has a debate on here ever changed your mind?
yes and since Im brain dead saince having a child and cannot remember, I do know I can recall saying, ( to myself) " Ok I see your point" to someone who had a different opinion then mind.
I liek to think Im open minded, and I also do NOT get caught up in semantics which happens frequently on debate /opinion threads versus seeing the REAL story, the real opinion etc...and that helps sway my mind if Im being closeminded.

I can honestly say.. beyond the shadow of a doubt, nope!
ITA
I am opinated and stick to my guns.
i think I am too - although I do like seeing people's opinions...
At times, when I was on the fence about something, I would ask on here, and it would help me make decisions about some things...
