Has anybody painted their wood cabinets white?

And if so, did you sand them down first and then painted them? Also, if you have pictures, can you please share?

You should lightly sand to give the wood a tooth - something for the primer to adhere to. Then paint.

We're going to paint some furniture in a white laquer finish...but my BIL has a studio so we're bringing it to his booth to be sprayed. If we were using regular paint, I would do what I said above.

We did.

We lightly sanded the cabinets (DH started by hand but, then my parents leant him their hand sander which saved a ton of time). Our cabinets were a very dark brown to begin with (think 70s).

We then put a primer on them and then an acryllic paint on top.

I have a picture at home, I'll try to post tonight.
