I haven't been, mainly because its full of pis-sed up Brits on their summer hols. However, we have a Turkish Restaurant in our neighbourhood and the food is yummy.

Re: Has anyone been to Turkey?
I was just there last week. The weather was the same as it was here. Pretty much has the same weather as New York. Istanbul was very crowded, NYCish. I felt "fondled" more than I cared for. Izmir was more of a seaside town and vacation spot. Turkish food is fabulous. I would go back! The Mosques and architecture is phenom!!! Currency is the New Turkish Lira (NTL) but they prefer dollars or Euros to that. Ephesus was amazing ancient city. The Grand Bazarr in Istanbul has the best knock offs I have ever seen!

Re: Has anyone been to Turkey?
I toured Turkey for a month as an actress in like 1999 or 2000. We went to Istanbul, Ankara and Pamukkali.
Istanbul is great - it's huge and bustling. We took a boat ride along the Golden Horn (turns out it was one of the most poluted rivers in the world - but maybe it's been cleaned up since). The Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia were amazing. Shopping at the Grand Bazaar is great - just look out for pick pockets! I remember going to the turkish bath - um, it's an experience and we still talk about it - but when in turkey, I guess.
Ankara was ok. The tomb to Attaturk was lovely - but I wouldnt go back to that city.
Pamukkali (sp?) was BY FAR my favorite spot. Absolutely beautiful - not touristy, the food was fantastic and the people were great.
I never made it to Capadozia (I've completely butchered the spelling - I'm just spelling it the way I remember pronouncing it) - supposed to be fantastic.
Epheseus is a must see!!!!
