Has anyone built their own deck?
We plan on building our own deck hopefully before summer. Has anyone done this before?

We plan on building one this summer too!
Dh bought the How to book from Home Depot last year. Now he just has to read it ! 
My neighbor built a beautiful one with trex (sp). It didn't seem hard. He had it up in no time!

We built a deck two years ago, with a LOT of help from my brother.
My only advice is to make sure you can consult with someone who really knows what they are doing. You have to cement braces into the ground at various points and you also need to make sure you have the base of the deck built properly.
Otherwise, when it comes time to sell the house or get a CO for the deck, you may get refused due to poor workmanship.

Thanks, yes DH's friend will be the master behind this since he's a contractor. Thankfully he knows what he's doing. I'm just happy to know it can take little time to get it done!
