Winthrop is in Mineola. I have heard good things about the hospital. Also, LIJ in Plainview is also good.

I delivered at Winthrop in Mineola. I had a pretty good experience there. Their Labor & Delivery suites are pretty nice and roomy.
The recovery rooms are pretty small though. And you have to share unless you pay for a private suite.
The nurses were great. The one thing you should know about Winthrop is that the maternity ward is pretty much run by residents so all the doctors are really young. But I had a good experience there.

I had my c/s at Winthrop and stayed 5 days. It was fine... I did pay extra for the private room and it was worth every penny after I spent the first night with a roomie.

Re: Has anyone delievered at Winthrop in Plainview and what was their experience
My SIL delivered at Northshore/LIJ in Plainview. She deliverd 1-month early and they were definitely NOT equipped to handle NICU. After 30+ hours, the baby was transferred to Northshore in Manhasset and rapidly progressed. Had my sil not had a problem I sure it would have been fine to deliver, but they just didn't have the staff or equipment to properly treat the baby (they sedated him in order to keep the oxygen tube in, Northshore let him spit it out and breath on his own, Plain view didn;t have feeding equipment so he didn't eat for close to 32 hours after he was born, etc...)

I delivered at Winthrop. Was hesitant about the residents, but had a great experience there. Also, the doc was aleays watching the residents very carefully. Hhighly recommend!
