has anyone done a kitchen facelift?
just granite and backsplash? can you ballpark prices for me?
we have a VERY white kitchen - white cabinets, backsplash, counters and I would like to replace the counter with dark granite and the backsplash as well as sink and facuet. Average size kitchen in split level?

Re: has anyone done a kitchen facelift?
Granite I would price out around 3-4k. Backsplash is variable, depends on what you want. I have travertine tile in a subway pattern, it was around $130 for the tile, but you can go up to $1500 for the backsplash.

HD and Lowes are running specials now that when you buy granite counter top you get a free sink. Sinks run about $300 plus the cost of your faucet.

Re: has anyone done a kitchen facelift?
I just checked a post that I did and found this in regards to my kitchen
Counter-Silestone Group E..52 feet--$4813-Home Depot (granite could be around the same price). Also, it was extra to have the corners round.
Sink $325_Home Depot Faucet-$200-faucetdirect.com Drain: Think around $50
My backsplash was from the tile shop and I think it was around $9 per foot (travertine).

Re: has anyone done a kitchen facelift?
When we were looking I found the price depended upon square footage, and color. For 28 square feet I received quotes from 1500-2500 for the same piece of granite. I would shop on line for a sink and faucet as the price is so much less than in stores. As for a backsplash I think about $10/foot is a middle/low end quote.

Granite would probAbly be 3-4k depending on what color you pick. Backsplash is pretty inexpensive, maybe $150 - $250 for a tile backsplash.

Re: has anyone done a kitchen facelift?
We are doing a kitchen facelift right now. My granite is going in today! For 45 square feet, we are paying $2900 for Black Galaxy. We are using the company Stone Edge for the countertops and so far we're happy with them. Depending on what you get for the backsplash will really determine the cost.

Re: has anyone done a kitchen facelift?
really depends. We had 90 feet of granite and it was $5200 and my backsplash which is 30 sq feet came to just under 1k but we definately could have done it cheaper and had a great turnout.
My backsplash is tmbled stone and we used decorative pieces behind the cook top. I did get all the backsplash tile at Lowes and they had some great choices.
Good luck!
