Has anyone ever applied for a job on USAJobs?
Someone on here told me about the website usajobs.com, it's a listing of positions available with the federal government. I've applied for a lot on there, but I was always denied in the first round because I wasn't really applying for things that i had a lot of experience with.
Well, the other day, I filled out an application on the website for a job that I am REALLY qualified for, and it would also be my dream job, pretty much.
Here's my question... Is there any way to call and follow up? Is that something that is "done" with federal jobs? It is with the National Parks Dept. or is it pretty much a wait and see type of thing?

Re: Has anyone ever applied for a job on USAJobs?
it's really all automated for the first round. most applications go to a central hiring agnecy, OPM, and not the actual agency to which you are applying until you've been "weeded" out as a potention candidate.
then you get some random letter.
then someone calls you and the real process begins.
but until that stage happens, there really isn't anyone TO call, kwim. the HR division of the agency you are applying to will have no idea you are even applying for the job.
oh, and it takes F O R E V E R
but don't give up hope!!!!!!!
good luck!

try calling the number on job posting if you still have it. It's usually towards the end of the announcement.

DH just got hired by the gov through a contractor (i know, not exactly the same, but to give an idea of timeline)
he got contacted first in August, nothing for 2 months....
Got contacted in October to set up interviews... several missed interviews (on their part) later, they offer him the job Oct 18...

Re: Has anyone ever applied for a job on USAJobs?
I've applied for many jobs on it...there is a section that says Application Status..it doesn't seem to update much but it's worth a shot to see if there are updates there...I have received e-mails from some of the agencies i applied with just stating my application was received & is still on file.i am in the running for 2 jobs from there now..applied around Aug..they said it'd be about 6 months from start to hiring for both...hang in there!
