Has anyone ever done a play (esp. MS/HS)
I want to have my kids put on a play in June- sets, costumes, the whole shebang- but I have no idea where to start. I haven't even done a play as a reading in several years- our old texts had The Diary of Anne Frank but then we had to dump the texts when we got Balanced Literacy.
Any suggestions? Am I nuts?

we have one in production at my school now scheduled to be preformed in may. we got a grant from a private community arts dept and are in partnership with a broadway theatre! are you planning to do this after school? thats what our school did. we got funding for props, costumes, teachers to work after school to help with practice, etc. not sure about the rest of the details, but im not sure if doing it in class by yourself is feasible...

Thanks for the info/advice. I decided (and the kids fortunately like the idea) to do a performance of famous scenes and monologues from Shakespeare instead of a full play. I think that will be more manageable.
