Has anyone ever gone to the Nikon repair center in Melville?
I can't believe this!! my DH's Nikon D50 is 8 months old and the flash stopped working  we called tech support and they told us to bring it to the repair center.
since this camera is only 8 months old, I do NOT want it fixed! I want a brand new camera. it's clearly a lemon.
does anyone have an experience they can share? If you brought your camera in, what did they do? thanks!

yes, I just brought my SD's coolpix there. She broke the screen. They tell you how much it will cost (if they know) & you give them a credit card & they send you a post card when its done. Her camera took 6 days, I need to go pick it up. It was $30 less than the camera store's quote for repairing it.

A couple of years ago I had to send DH's coolwalker thing there - it wouldn't hold a charge out of the box. They repaired it and sent it back within 2-3 weeks. I have not had a problem since then.

No. My camera was 3 years old & out of warranty. It was fixed for free because it was manufacturer's defect with the first round of that model.
It was considered a GBLOD error (the Green Blinking Light of Death - seriously, that was the name)
I know you told me but I'd have to go search thought a ton of FMs. What exactly is the problem you're having?

If it's still under warranty of if you purchased the insurance there should be no charge. I had to send a copy of the sales receipt with the coolwalker to show that it was still under warranty.

i didn't purchase extra insurance. had I done that, Circuit City would have been able to give us a new one. UGH! we went there yesterday to get a copy of the receipt b/c I lost it.

I doubt they'll charge you. Have you checked photo forums to see if anyone else had the problem?
That's how I found out that mine was a manufacturer's defect.
