Re: Has anyone ever had a breast sono?

yes, i have to get them every 6 months. i had a breast cancer scare a year back and had to have a lumptectomy and now i get one every 6 months just to be safe.

it is NOT scary and it does NOT hurt. they just put gel on your breast and press the wand gently and move it around. the radiologist looks at a screen while he/she is doing this. they print a report for the doctor and they get back to you. the radiologist cannot say anything to you about what they see, unless it's something you know about and bring up. they let the doctor tell you if there is anything abnormal.
Please feel free to FM.

ETA: it is NOTHING like an MRI. you are not enclosed in those things. you sit on a bed and just take off your bra and that's it. easy!

Thank you all.

Re: Has anyone ever had a breast sono?

Yes, as OP said - it's not that bad. I had to have it done cuz there was a lump they couldn't quite figure out...so after 20 mammograms they decided to just do a sonogram - which was wayyyyyyyyyyy easier!!!

I have had one, it didn't hurt. A Mammogram hurts more!

Re: Has anyone ever had a breast sono?

I have had 2. They just rub the ultrasound wand over your boob.

Re: Has anyone ever had a breast sono?

Yes. It's painless and not scary at all, just like the above posters described.

Re: Has anyone ever had a breast sono?

I have had mammos, sonos and breast MRIs. I'm happy to tell you anything you might be concerned about - the sonos are the easiest of them all. It is the same thing they use when you are pregnant and they look at the baby - it is just a wand looking device that they use a little clear jell and move the wand over your breasts - totally painless and very simple. Not something to stress over. I have had several and will have another in a few months.
