Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I wonder if that means I will have to have surgery and if so, I wonder if that means I will ahve to wait until after pregnancy and if so I wonder if that means I will just have to live with the (at times) debilitating pain.

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I know of someone who had this done recently also...
Deb, I think that the surgery is really not that bad (outpatient procedure) and the end results is MUCh better than living with the condition!
But I would think you will prob. need to wait until little Joey is born before considering the surgery - not sure

Deb, i think Flee's right.....you will most likely have to wait until after you have the baby....
but i'm sure the end result will be ten times better than what you're feeling now!!
has the dr confirmed that it is in fact polyps????

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I have no answers for you Deb, and I do think surgery would have to wait and I know that you didnt have this pain till your were PG, so Im hoping it dissapears as quickly as it appeared withouth any surgical intervention..I just wanted to send you some hugs....Pregnancy is scary and stressful enough withouth adding chronic pain to it, and I think your handling it like a trooper no matter what you think, so be proud of yourself for making it this far...and I will pray it ends soon for you.
Hang in there Mama!

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I had polyps - I had sinus surgery - but I had other issues. There might not be much to do if you are pregnant - I think sometimes steroid sprays are sometimes used to attempt to shrink them first - but don't quote me on that

Can you tell me a little bit about it? Was it painful? How long did it take? Where you under local or general? Sooo many questions!

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
My father had polyps removed from his sinuses many times when I was younger. I think the last time was probably 15 years ago. A couple of the procedures were like cauterizing them by kind of burning them off and some of them were longer surgeries where he had to stay in overnight, but that was a good few years ago and it was also in Ireland. He had a recurring problem that was caused by his cigar smoking, hence the number of times he had to go in. Once he stopped smoking cigars he no longer got polyps.
I'm sure it's a relitively quick and painless procedure these days, but I would expect that you would still need an anisthetic of some kind and will have to wait until your baby has arrived

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I had surgery for a cyst in my sinus over 10 years ago. I'm not sure if they are able to do anything differently now, but it was an outpatient procedure and then they put packing in my nose & I had to go back to get the packing removed a few days later.

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
Deb, DH is home recovering from this surgery as I type this. He actually needed to have it done in 2 procedures (although he is the only one I've known that needed it done this way). The procedure only took 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours.
I can tell you he is extremely happy he's had it done and cannot wait until the packing is removed today so he can finally breathe again.
Any other questions - FM me.

This has happened to me, I missed more work from October - February from sinus infections and also got reamed from my boss about it. Are you experiencing sinus infections or just sinus pain?

Both! AND the lovely side effect is that the growth is putting pressure on my eye which is putting pressure on a nerve and causes the entire left side of my face to throb and go numb. It happens about 5 times a night...I haven't slept longer than an hour straight since the first week of Feb.

My mom had a GIGANTIC one in her sinuses and she had to get it removed surgically- it wasn't that bad though.

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I had the surgery and it was outpatient. Recovery wasn't bad at all. I think the most painful part was when they took the packing out.
ETA: I know it s u c k s that you have to wait, but you will feel better after the surgery. I haven't had migraines since my surgery 9 years ago.

Re: has anyone ever had cysts/polyps in your sinuses?
I had other things done - like shrinking my turbinates, opening my maxillary sinuses up and correcting my septum -
You are completely out (by IV - lowest level of anesthesia) - but it was a day op procedure - I was in early morning and out by in the afternoon. I had it done at MEETH. It was not a bad procedure - better than having all four of my wisdom teeth out.
The steroids are just sprays you would take everyday - but not sure if that is an option for you.
