Re: has anyone ever made cake pops???

i found the cake part easy, but getting the chocolate melted and put on the cake pop frustrating since the chocolate kept hardening too fast.

melt it in small doses. make sure you put a little bit of vegetable oil. maybe a double boiler would be good. maybe chocolate lollipop makers would have a suggestion.

Re: has anyone ever made cake pops???

I made them and they were kind of gross. Cute, but gross.

The cake balls were too moist and it felt like I was eating cake someone else had already eaten.....Chat Icon

Re: has anyone ever made cake pops???

I have made these a few times (well cakeballs not pops, but obviously the same concept.) Everyone LOVES them and they go very quickly. My favorite combination is devils food cake and dark chocolate frosting dipped in white chocolate. The white chocolate breaks up the sweetness Chat Icon One time I used light pink chocolate and then piped milk chocolate designs on them – they looked really cool.

The tips I have are really the same as bakerella’s website, but here they are:

- I refrigerate the cakeball dough over night before rolling. Then I make the balls and refrigerate another few hours before dipping.
- I use the Merckens chocolate discs (same as the ones for making chocolate lollipops). I found that works best.
- DON’T REFRIGERATE the cakeballs after they are made.
- Store in air-tight container. They taste better one or two days after they are made.
