Has anyone ever rented RUG DOCTOR from the supermarkets?

We are getting a couch delivered on Friday and need to clean our carpet quickly and cheaply. Has anyone ever rented the machine? Any feedback would be appreciated.

i rented it last year. it was great. i think i cleaned the rugs too much, because they were very wet and took a couple of days to dry.

Do you think if I do it tomorrow afternoon, that it will be dry by Friday?

Yes, you should be fine, but if you do it more than once it might still be alittle damp. Be sure to leave windows open so it will help dry quicker.

I bought my own steamcleaner, since it only takes a few uses a year to make it cheaper than renting. It's amazing what the steam cleaner picks up, no matter how much you vacuum!!

When I do the carpets (they are short closed-loop thread carpet, so I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes), but it's totally dry in maybe 3-4 hours. It's just slightly damp as soon as I'm done. Enough to get your socks damp, but not enough to notice with shoes on. I just take my time vacuuming up the water after I sprayed the fluid.

we just rented one last week, and it made a huge difference! I couldn't believe how dark the water got Chat Icon

Anyway, I think if you go over it once, you'll be in good dy shape by friday. Twice or more maybe pushing it- especially for high-traffic areas.

we rented one before we moved out of our apt in florida this year. we got a puppy who made a mess the first few months. it did a wonderful job. we thought we were going to lose our security because of the rugs..but we got it all back!

Us too. We just did this over the weekend.

I love how my carpets look, it did take about 3 hours to dry, but honestly next time we do a steam clean I am having a professional do it. Took me such a long time to do, then having to refill the water tank, empty the reserve tank, etc...Lugging that thing around the house, uh....

so in 6 months which will be the next steam clean I am having a pro do it.

Re: Has anyone ever rented RUG DOCTOR from the supermarkets?

I Would buy one of the machines when we own a home but we rent. When we moved in, the carpet had been filthy so we asked them to have it cleaned. The carpet is an off white and is in the living room and dining room areas - the two most heavily traveled areas in the apartment. Persoanlly, I hate off white carpet - it is nothing but trouble. But since we rent, and we do not plan on being here forever, we are not going to a grand expense and recarpeting. It simply isnt practical.

That being said, I used the machine and it helped, but the carpet is so light and the stains and dirt had settled in long ago. It is better but far from perfect. Let this be a lesson, off white carept should be reserved for areas with less foot traffic.
