Has anyone ever sold anything at Once Upon a Child?
Just wondering what your experience was like.
We have some items that we are *debating* selling. Booster seats, some toys, etc. Do they give you a decent amount of $$ for the stuff? We aren't sure if we should just continue storing them for baby #2, who probably won't be here for a another few years.

Re: Has anyone ever sold anything at One Small Child?
I did sell to Once Upon a Child & Kidstuff in Lindy & was GREATLY disappointed. Looking back I would have felt better donating the things to a church.
It was my first time doing it so I had no idea how it really worked.
They lay out everything you have & then ask if you're going to shop (I did) & then they tell you when they're ready & they say, we'll give you $XX for everything. It came out to less than $1 or $2 per item.

I'm not familiar w/ that store, but I did sell to Once Upon a Child & Kidstuff in Lindy & was GREATLY disappointed. Looking back I would have felt better donating the things to a church.

That is what I was afraid of. If that is the case then we'll either donate to a church or just figure out away to store everything longer so that we'll use it for our next child.
What type of items did you sell? I wasn't even planning on buying anything---just selling.

Either donate or do a major yardsale. You will get about the same with the yardsale as a consignment store type.

I sold an unopened baby album, unused clothes w/ tags on; baby mementos things (silverplated "first tooth" box, first lock of hair, etc.), new blankets, toys & a bunch of stuff I don't remember. What I'm still kicking myself over is a friend at work had made a baby scrapbook for me & I knew I'd never use it, but I "sold" that & if anything I should have sold it on ebay or held onto it.

Re: Has anyone ever sold anything at Once Upon a Child?
I actually went there last week and bought a Bumbo seat for $18, a gap denim jacket for $3.00 and an Absorba barn jacket for $2.80 (both jackets were actually brand new and had the original tags on them). Now I wonder if I am buying a brand new jacket w/ tags for $3.00 how much are they going to give me for "gently used" clothing??? Maybe $1?
I think iif you want to get decent $$ for your stuff, sell it on Craigs List of a garage sale.
Just an FYI...certain baby things like carseats and infant carriers have a 4-5 year "shelf life" (as per each manufacturer). I actually called Peg Perego and they said that the plastic on the infant carriers can break down so they recommend no longer using it after 5 years. They told be to throw it out and cut the straps so no one uses it. If you are waiting a long time between DC it may be best to sell or donate that stuff and just buy new when you need it again.
As far as storing clothes...Space Bags work well to condense things and take up very little space. I even put DD's winter down comfortor in a space bag to store it for the summer and it fits right under her bed.
