Has anyone filed for STAR in Nassau County recently?
How do you know if it was approved, and when it will start?
I sent in my application about 4 months ago, and haven't heard anything about it. Will it be in effect as of Jan 1st?

You should have gotten a receipt that they received it, definitely call. Although if you only applied 4 months ago, I don't think it will be effective for the upcoming tax year, as I think the cutoff in Nassau is in January?

I never got a receipt but you can call and it is all automated and they tell you if the star was processed

So, I just called and they said that there was no exemption on my property. I guess they never got my papers.
Looks like i'll have to fill them out and wait again.

We just bought our home in the summer and I filed for the STAR in August. I spoke to someone and they said they received it but it won't come in effect until 2013. This might be the same case for you.
