Has anyone flown with extra breast milk?
We are flying on Friday and since Alexander is still only on breast milk I have to bring enough to supplement my supply for him. Has anyone else done this? If so how did you keep the milk cold for so long? Did they give you any problems at security?
I am only bringing fresh milk and my flight is to California.

Re: Has anyone flown with extra breast milk?
Can you freeze it so it lasts a little longer? Is it just for the flight?
I just traveled back and forth to Florida. They did not give me any problems with any liquids either way, as long as I said it was for the baby. I had 2 regular bottles of water and they tested the water (in the West Palm Beach airport) so I could keep them.

The problem with freezing it is if it starts to defrost then I have to use it immediately and all will be lost.

Is it just for the flight? Freshly pumped BM will keep for up to 10 hours unrefridgerated. But- you can bring a cooler and ask for ice once you get on the plane.

You just took the words right out of my mouth. My other suggestion was going to be dry ice. It can be hard to find though. GL!

Re: Has anyone flown with extra breast milk?
I traveled a lot on business trips when I was nursing. I would take a cooler with me and pack ice in a ziploc bag. When I was going through security, I would throw away the ice and tell security that I was carrying breastmilk (men would freak by the way ) When I went through security, I would just go to one of the restaurants and ask for more ice. I would then just pack it with the BM and it was fine. If the trip was extra long, I would just ask for more ice on the plane. No problems ever!

Re: Has anyone flown with extra breast milk?
It's for the duration of the trip so I need a week's supply. I will be nursing and pumping so I only need to bring about 70 ounces.
