has anyone gotten out of lease early?- UPDATE

after the stalling incident yesterday- my car didn't start- a problem I have been having since about 3 months in

I really don't want this car anymore- I don't have time to take in for service every month

has anyone gotten out of a lease early- I just want to start over-

Update- I just got off the phone with the manager- and he is 100% on my side- he pulled up my service record - he feels my car has an electrical problem- that I shouldn't have to deal with

I asked for an M class- he didn't think that would be a problem

the first step is to get MB to agree to buy back the car

if that doesn't work- he is going to find another way

I feel like someone is finally listening to me!

Yes, but they charged us a TON in early termination penalties.Chat Icon

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?

I am wondering this also. I want to get out of my lease in the worst way. I was looking over my paperwork from the dealership last night (all the fine print on the back) and it said nothing about early termination fees. I think once the school year is over, I am gong to go into the dealership and give them hell.

Let me know what you find out...

its not the dealership that gives fees, its the bank...check with your leasing company

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?

I have a list of problems that I have been dealing with since day 1

I just want another car- I will take another one from them- just not the same model

and I am willing to pay to upgrade

do you think that willl help?

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?

these things were serviced correctly and are they under warranty?

i would call the bank to tell them your problems as techincally, it is there car and not yours. you are doing everything to keep it maintain (as you should) however it's giving you more problems. you shouldn't be paying rent for something that doesn't work good.

how many more months are on your lease and how old is the lease?

tremendously! I would go in and talk to the leasing manager to see what they say.

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?

no- they were NOT serviced correctly- I keep going back with the same problems

1- stalling in reverse
2- not starting
3- the sunroof not closing- minor- but I think it shows the car has an electrical defect

and a few more-
I was just there on 5/15 about the stalling and 3 other times for non-start ( which both happened yesterday)

I am 22 months in to the lease- with 23 more to go- the car is a 2005

I have a file full of similar compaints I found online- and the serivce manager said I am the only one who has these issues

all I want is a car that works- I don't think I am expecting too much-

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?

A few yrs ago I got out of my lease over a year early-they rolled all that money into my new lease. I had to lease my new car for 5 yrs to make the payments an affordable price. To me it wasn't worth it and I would never do it again.

good idea- I just left him a message- I am done dealing with the serivce guy

I told him- that I keep having the same problems over and over again- and I was just there for serivce- and we need to dicuss what we can do about this

he is the first step- once I plead my case to him- he takes it from there

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?

Beth you might be able to get a new car under the Lemon Law. I know people who have had success with this. There's strict guidelines like if you have the same consistent problem with the car over a certain period of time you are entitled to a new car. I'm not sure if it applies to leases though. I don't see why not though.

from way the lady spoke to me on the phone- this doesn't seem to be uncommon

That's great!!! I read your post yesterday and I was thinking to myself how bad I felt that you just got this car and all ready having major problems with it. Im so glad someone was able to help you out. Was this the general manager or service manager?

thank you

I called the service manager- he is so nice- I was in shock - I thought I was going to have to raise hell

but if you look at my service record- you can see that I have been trying to fix it

Re: has anyone gotten out of lease early?- UPDATE

I thought it might have been the service manager. I worked in car retail & service for a couple of years and I can attest to the fact that service managers always look out for their customers. They are the nicest people. Again, happy things are looking up for you. Just in case though, get all the information you need in case you have to get in touch with corporate. Good luck!! Chat Icon
