My friend has this done. She loves it. I think she gets it done every 6 months and goes into the city to have it done. Her hair looks very smooth and healthy.

Re: has anyone had a japanese hair straitening?
I just did it for the 2nd time last week. .I absolutely love it. It depends on your hair how often you will need to get it redone if you want to. I go to this place in Queens - called Hair Village. It is very cheap - cost me $150. I've never heard anyone paying more then $200.A lot of people go there. Definitely not a "salon" but the place is very crowded with everyone getting the straightening done.

I also have a friend that gets it done.. and she goes into the city and gets it done every six months.
I am not too sure about the long term affects.. but her hair looks great now.
Oh and it cost her about 250.00

I have super duper curly hair, and I considered getting it done, BUT, I hear that it doesn't work for curly hair... wavy maybe, but not curly hair. That's why I'm skeptical.
What type of hair do you have?

I know a girl who did it, and she had straight hair to begin with. IMO her hair looks like it's gotten thinner since she did it. I don't mean just thinner, I mean you can actually see scalp in the front.

I got it done about a year and half ago. I have curly, but not super curly, but super frizzy hair. I still had to blow it out, but it wasn't as much work then when it wasn't straightened.
I think the cost depends on the length of your hair and I think there are 2 kinds. One of them has lots of vitamins or whatever in it and made my hair feel really nice.
Also I think when you go back you don't pay as much b/c they only do your roots, kind of like a fill-in

Stacey, how does it look when you don't blow it out?
Right now, I put a mild relaxer in my hair to tame the frizzies & to loose my curls.... and it only cost $5 (my mom applies it for me).
For me, I think it'd be worth it if I could wash & go, without worrying about how my hair might look. Otherwise, if I still have to put as much work into it, why throw my $ away?

I don't have it that way now, and it was in the winter time, but if I remember I think it was a little wavy and a little frizzy. I don't think I did just wash and go, unless I pulled it back.
ETA: B/c you hair is very curly, you might not be able to wash and go, it might not be worth it. Maybe you should call a salon and ask them what the best hair types are.
