Has anyone had furniture delivered from JC Penny's?
How was your experience? How did the delivery work? Did you get a call 8 or 9pm the night before for a 5 hour window the next day that was not arranged?
Can you tell me about your experience?
If you cancelled an order how long did it take for credit? Did they refuse to say how much you would get back or provide a cancellation confirmation number?

Wow...that's a lot of questions...
Not sure if I can answer all, but we did have furniture delivered...furniture that was purchased IN STORE...BIG difference.
We scheduled a delivery on DH's day off. They came within the time frame - I believe it was before noon. They were GREAT. Brought everything in, only the bed needed to be put together (foot, head & side boards). One dresser was slightly damaged, they returned the next week with a new one.

Re: Has anyone had furniture delivered from JC Penny's?
Did you arrange a delivery time?
Here is our issue - we bought a table online we need a small temporary table and didn't want to spend a lot we found one on a great sale there and bought it back in January.
Three times they called us with a prerecorded message at 8pm or LATER saying the delivery was coming at 8-1 the NEXT morning - I work in NYC and DH had to go to court those days we called Penny's and they tell us they are supposed to arrange a time not just tell us a day with less than 24 hours notice - the driver was calling between 10pm and 11 pm to confirm delivery which we obviously didn't agree or arrange for. Penny's kept telling us that they are supposed to mutually arrange a time not just call the night before.
Long story short - we cancelled the table on 1/30 and then they did the SAME delivery recording and the driver showed up on saturday (we couldn't be home we had a vet appointment and other obligations and we had already cancelled the table our neighbor told us the driver showed up and looked ******.) They tried to deliver the table that time 5 days after we cancelled the order.
When we cancelled it Penny's just says you will get a full refund but when asked the exact amount (to make sure they aren't deducting shipping) they say their computer won't allow them to see the amount?
They tell us they can't give us a confirmation number. They first told us our credit will come by no later than 2/5 or 6th today they are saying 1 week most likely longer - no they won't give us the credit information again or a cancellation number. Supervisors are also no help.
Just wondered if this was regular JC Penny's practice or just an fluke.

See we were never given a chance to schedule a delivery -just random prerecorded messages telling you they are coming the next day and gives you a number to call is there is a problem - but they call when they are CLOSED so you can't even reach the delivery company at the number they give - and when you call the next day they don't answer and you don't get a message either.

Re: Has anyone had furniture delivered from JC Penny's?
we got our couch and bedroom set ( bed, mattress, 2 dressers and 2 nightstands) from them, and had NO problems. we bought them IN STORE, so i don't know if that makes a difference. it was before we were married and just DH was liviing in the house, so i dont remember if they called him the night before or what... but i remember being in the store ordering it, and i beleive they let us pick a delivery date right then. i know we had to have advanced notice, because we had MIL come to the house and wait for them. they put everything where we wanted it, and put the bed together for us. we also had a problem with our box spring ( it was too high for the pillow top mattress that we bought with it, and i could barely get into the bed- LOL ) but that wasn't their fault, and we called them to exchange it, they came back quickly with the new one and we had no problems...

I had a bedroom set delivered
They said 6-8 weeks and it took a little longer than 8 weeks.
I called them the night before because Im too impatient to wait for them to call us
They said they would be there between 10 and 3 so I took the day off work and they didnt show up until 5
But the delivery guys were very nice and fast

Like Lori said, there is a big difference with delivery service if you purchase from the store vs. online.
When I purchased my DR furniture from the store they arranged a delivery window in advance and the delivery was on time and went very smoothly.
When I purchased Bedroom furniture online the delivery was a nightmare. They gave us a 4 or 5 hour window and arrived 4 hours after the window and then a piece was broken

See the 4-5 hour window wasn't an issue - Penny's said they could deliver on a sat - or there are some days DH can work from home - if he doesn't have to go to court - he can take work home and sit.
The issue was Penny's said they would arrange a delivery time and they were just calling with a pre recorded message the night before for the next morning - which is too late for us to arrange to be home. Penny's told us they are supposed to call you and work out a time agreed to by both - which sounds like the rest of you were receiving.

Re: Has anyone had furniture delivered from JC Penny's?
They were a NIGHTMERE!! I will NEVER order from them again... the delivery people arent technically employees of JCPenney, so they cant even do anything about it when the delivery people F up...
The delivery person came to drop something off and was supposed to pick up the damaged piece, well apparently they didnt know they were picking anything up... so i told them that i was refusing the delivery and not signing for it. The man argued with me then when i told them i was calling the company he literally ran away without my signature... not to mention that the furniture came nailed down to boards... i can go on and on...URGH HATED THEM!! They added SO much stress to my life!

Well it is good to know we weren't the only ones to have a problem. We figured the table was such a good price and we didn't want to spend too much as we probably won't be here long and don't know if we will use it again but the hassel wasn't worth the cheap price.
