HAs anyone had their rug steam cleaned?
Do they vacuum the rug first, or does the steam cleaning pull all the stuff up?
The rug is dusty from work being done, even though there are drop cloths down. I of course will vacuum first but I have a kinda crappy vacuum since I don't really have rugs now-- but I just want to make sure that the rug is totally cleaned.

Re: HAs anyone had their rug steam cleaned?
we get our rugs cleaned yearly and some furniture and it is the best thing ever. I usually vacuum first but I don't know if it really matters. The systems they use are huge and do the job well. I have an amazing recommendation if needed. I am in suffolk but I am sure they will travel. They do not use any chemicals and are reasonably priced.

You (they) should vacuum first. Steam cleaners aren't made to vacuum up excess hair and dirt. It clogs the machine. Vacuuming first will make the steam cleaner more effective.

Ok..... I gave the recommendation of a carpet cleaner of a few of you and decided to call them to see how far on the island they would go and low and behold it's disconnected. It's embarrassing and I apologize. My SIL only used them a few months ago and is looking to see if the # was changed. If it has I will update. I am disappointed because they were really good.
