I'm not sure when the next exam is - I've already missed the cutoff for the June 9th test. That should give me plenty of time to start running again.....that's all those poor academy people do!

Do it and study. My moms ex is a SGT in the 5th precint and he said its hard. He took the lieutenant's test like 5 times and didnt get it because he only got a 97. Go for it, good for you.

ok - here's my logic.
First 5 yrs salary is 58k..PLUS free health benefits, copay reimbursement, decent paid vacation, etc.
After 5 yrs, you're up to 97K!!! Increases every 5 yrs thereafter.
We're trying to make a decision about moving.
If Rich can't get a perm teaching job here, we may leave next summer.
SOOOOO I'd like to take the exam sometime in the next 6 months, because it takes 6 months to grade.
hmmmmmm
I have some things to think about!

They only give it like every either 2 years or every 4 years now.

I guess missed the boat...the exam is 6/9...registration cutoff was 4/11.

That would be awesome...I *almost* took the NYPD exam but I chickened out. SCPD mailed me an app without me even asking and I never completed it...this was all years ago before I met my DH.
But go for it!
