Has anyone here had a scheduled c-section at LIJ in NHP?
My first c-section was emergent. My second is scheduled.
Questions:
1) Do you go to L and D when you go in or to a room in maternity to prepare there and go back to the same room?
2) Do you use the same OR's as the emergent c-sections?
Thx.

Re: Has anyone here had a scheduled c-section at LIJ in NHP?
My scheduled c-section was three years ago.
I did go to L&D upon my arrival. I was in triage for a few hours to change into the gown, get a bag of fluids, and then get bumped again and again for emergencies.
I can't answer the question about the OR. I do know it was a different room than my "emergency" one, but because I kept getting bumped, I can only assume it was in the same area. I walked down to it when the time finally came...

Thank you! I have a feeling I am going to get bumped a lot. Uch.

Re: Has anyone here had a scheduled c-section at LIJ in NHP?
I had a scheduled c in Feb. I went up to L&D and they brought me into the recovery room to get into a bed, gown etc. They hooked me up to a monitor and asked me the same questions about a million times. My c was scheduled for 12 and I walked into the OR at 11:45. My doctor told me they have a separate OR for scheduled sections so they don't often get bumped, this was something I was worried about.

That's a big concern of mine-being bumped. Mine is scheduled for late afternoon though I would have preferred first thing in the am. In any case, we wanted Abby to be waiting with everyone else so she can be as much of a part of everything as possible. If it runs late, it could pose a problem.

You will get a better idea of how it is running when you first get there. Since you have to be there 2 hours in advance you can always call and let whoever is watching Abby know how they are doing but according to my doctor they usually run pretty much to schedule and don't get bumped that often.

Re: Has anyone here had a scheduled c-section at LIJ in NHP?
Im going to imagine that there are rooms designated for emergencies and ones for scheduled sections. I would also assume that a schduled person gets bumped in the event of sheer volume. It is what it is. As long as I am not in labor, I suppose that is all that matters. I wish the new Women's Health Pavillion was done already. It looks like it is going to be beautiful in there.
