Has anyone investigated Catholic Charities for adoption?
Friends of Friends have adopted 2 boys through Catholic Charities. We are thinking of going this route as well...Any thoughts?

I am pretty sure they have been around a very long time. I did not look into them, but do they focus on domestic adoption mostly? I think so.

Funny I was just talking to my dentist about his sister who adopted through Catholic Charities. He said they adopted domestically and that the process went very smoothly for she and her husband.

Re: Has anyone investigated Catholic Charities for adoption?
I just called them and they said they have very few children up for domestic adoption right now. I thought that was interesting. She did refer me to their connection in Russia. I thought things had slowed down in Russia?

Not sure about the Russian slow-down but I just wanted to offer you lots of and support. I'm so happy to see more people exploring the adoption route. Best of luck to you!

Things have slowed in Russia but that doesn't mean people are not adopting from Russia. Patience is key with adoption..not always easy though. My agency Wide Horizons for Children (www.whfc.org) does adoptions from Russia and a few other countries if you want to check them out.

New Beginnings in Mineola does Russian adoptions too, as well as international adoptions from China, Korea, Hong Kong, the Ukraine, Guatamala, etc. Many of us on this board are using NB and are very happy.

I have contacted them, and was informed they have older children only or work with pregnant women.
