If so, how did you go about it with dentist? I've never been in this situation and am not happy. Curious how to handle this.

Re: Has anyone not been happy with their dental work?
I'm in the dental field. My advice would be to ask to have a consult appointment with the Dr that did the work. explain exactly what you are not happy with and give that Dr a chance to do it again.
If you have already done that, then seek a second opinion. If another dentist agrees with why your are unhappy go back to the first doctor and explain you are going to have to pay someone else to redo the work and youwould like a partial refund. I highly doubt you will get a full refund unless you can demostrate some form of malpractice. If another doctor tells you something was done below the acceptable standard of care you can file a complaint with the NYS office of professions. NYSOP

I was in that situation. The dentist did a terrible job filling two cavities, I never had sensitive teeth prior to that and then a little over a year later I needed a root canal on that same tooth. There was no way I was going to give him a chance to fix it he wasnt going to go near me. I found an awesome dentist (by pure chance) and have never gone back since. I did call and say my piece to them one day bc I needed xrays and they sent me paper photocopies of it to spite me. They refused to send my new dentist any old records too.
