Just curious...I've heard good things and thought it might be interesting to read the authors' thoughts.

Re: Has anyone read "Nurture Shock" yet?
My brother gave it to me for Christmas, and I've read through several of the chapters. I really enjoyed it, but don't have too much time for reading.
I thought they had some excellent points--there is an entire chapter devoted to how to praise our children. The basic premise is NOT to say things like "you are so pretty" or "you are so smart", because those are praising innate features beyong the child's control, and leads to underrating effort, so that kids will stop immediately if they find something that they are not inherently good at. It is more effective to praise a child for figuring out a puzzle, or painting a painting, and to praise efforts and the subsequent results.
